LUNA 1G E is an EPON optical network client terminal designed to meet the requirements of a broadband access network. It is used in FTTH/FTTO to provide data and video services based on the EPON network.

EPON is the latest generation of access network technology. IEEE802.3ah is the standard EPON protocol. The EPON standard differs from other passive optical network standards in that it achieves higher throughput and higher performance with larger variable-length packets. EPON offers efficient user traffic management with frame segmentation, thus enabling higher quality of service (QOS) for delay-sensitive voice or video traffic.
